Kendrick was born in Compton, California, on June 17, 1987. He tells stories through hip hop and raps a lot about social issues like racism, his faith, and personal struggles. He is so good that he won a Pulitzer Prize for his album DAMN, which has songs on it like Humble, Loyalty, and DNA.  Kendrick helps children in Compton, California, by funding education, providing disaster relief, and mentoring.

Hibiscus

One ingredient in our drink is hibiscus. It is a flower that is Native to Africa. The hibiscus flower was grown a lot in plantation gardens. People used to drink hibiscus tea in slavery to help them cool off from the heat of working on the plantation. It also helped with pain and soreness. Sorrel is a drink (also called Red Drink) that is made from the hibiscus flower. It is a tea that represents the bloodshed of ancestors in slavery. People drink it during Juneteenth to celebrate freedom. People use hibiscus to make drinks, jellies, and syrups. We chose this ingredient because it is sweet and tangy.
